Tinubu Requests Senate Confirmation For Appointments In NERC – Others

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded multiple letters to the Senate, seeking approval for new management appointments across key federal agencies.

Gatekeepers News reports that the agencies include Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), National Population Commission (NPC), Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), and Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

During Tuesday’s plenary session, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read out the president’s formal requests, which contained the lists of nominees for confirmation.

In the letter concerning NERC, Tinubu proposed Abdullahi Ramat as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, with Abubakar Yusuf and Fouad Olayinka Animashaun nominated as Commissioners for Consumer Affairs and Finance Management Services, respectively.

For the FCCPC, the president nominated Louis Odion, Commissioner for Operations (Edo State), and Ummueelm Isiyaku Rabiu, Commissioner for Corporate Services (Kano State).

At the National Population Commission (NPC), Tinubu nominated Agbaje Olukoye as Chairman, representing the South-West. Other nominees include Hafiz Muhammad Kawu Ibrahim (Technical, North-West), Samuel Chigozie Uwande (Inspectorate, South-East), Charles Efe Sylvester (Finance, South-South), Bello Abubakar Malabu (Administration, North-East), and Omolola Bridget Oliworaran, appointed as Director-General, representing the South-West.

Additional nominees for the NPC include Joseph Haruna Kigbu from Nasarawa and Tonge Betara Bularafa from Yobe State, both to serve as Commissioners.

For the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), the president put forward Bello Abubakar Wammako (Sokoto), Hadizatu Uwani Mustapha (Borno), Marafa Bashir Abba (Taraba), Ahmed Waziri Hassan (Adamawa), Bob Helen Inafe (Bayelsa), and Gboyega Oladele (Osun) for confirmation as Commissioners.

Tinubu also requested the confirmation of Obehi Aire Okafor as Co-Chairman of the Governing Council of the Unclaimed Funds Trust Fund in a separate letter.
