Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 10 winner, Opeyemi Ayanwale popularly known as Imisi, has revealed that she broke up with her ex-boyfriend, Hakeem, just weeks before her audition.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a post-show interview with host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Imisi said the breakup was hectic and admitted she hadn’t fully recovered emotionally when she entered the BBNaija house.
She said, “We broke up on April 4, before I went for the audition in April or May. It was a really hectic breakup, and I didn’t have time to heal from it.”
Reflecting on their relationship, Imisi described Hakeem as her safe place, noting that her sense of identity and even her online persona were shaped around his preferences.
She said, “The Imisi people saw on social media wasn’t really me. My dressing and style were influenced by my ex-boyfriend, Hakeem — that’s what he liked.”
“He liked girls who looked girly, wore makeup, and frontals, so I did that to please him because he was my safe place, the only person I had at the time.”
The reality star also clarified that her fashion choices during her stay in the house were not exaggerated but rather a reflection of her attempt to express herself freely.
She added, “My dressing in the house wasn’t too much. I just dressed that way because there wasn’t much to do, and I wanted to look a bit playful.”
