Edo State Government has announced a major restructuring of its ministries following the approval of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued on October 14, 2025, by Umar Musa Ikhilor, Secretary to the State Government, the reform is aimed at aligning the structure of Edo’s ministries with that of the Federal Government and ensuring effective implementation of the Governor’s SHINE Agenda in harmony with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the statement, the restructuring includes the creation of new ministries and the revival of defunct ones, bringing the total number of ministries in the state to twenty-eight.
The government explained that the move is designed to enhance administrative efficiency, improve coordination across critical sectors, and strengthen the state’s capacity to deliver effectively on its developmental mandate.
Among the restructured ministries are the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, whose commissioner is yet to be announced; Ministry of Works headed by Hon. (Dr.) Felix Ehiguese Akhabue; Ministry of Mining led by Hon. Andrew Ijegbai; and the Ministry of Information and Strategy under Prince Kassim Afegbua.
Others include the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, overseen by Hon. Paul Nosayaba Ohonbamu; Ministry of Business, Trade and Investment under Omoh Anabor; Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security led by Dr. Jerry Uwangue; and the Ministry of Livestock Development headed by Prof. Omorodion Ignatius Ikponwosa.
The Ministry of Environment and Sustainability is now under Hon. (Barr.) Nosa T. Adams, while Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole oversees the Ministry of Health. The Ministry of Education is led by Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, and Dr. Lucky Eseigbe heads the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
Hon. Yakubu Oshiorenua Musa, JP, leads the Ministry of Lands and Housing; Ohimai Ehijimetor heads the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy; and Hon. Etin-Osa Ogbeiwi oversees the Ministry of Science and Technology. The Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation is under Dr. Washington Osa Osifo, while Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo manages the Ministry of Youth Affairs.
Eugenia Abdallah leads the Ministry of Women Affairs; Barr. Marie Olabisi Idaomi oversees the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation; Barr. Usenbo Paul Ehigie heads the Ministry of Power; and Barr. Vincent Osas Uwadiae is in charge of the Ministry of Oil and Gas Resources. Engr. Emmanuel Okoebor leads the Ministry of Finance, while Dr. Elizabeth Ebosele heads the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
Hon. Saturday Uwuilekhue Idehen (JP) is the Commissioner for Transportation; Prof. Roland Itoya Otaru, SAN, oversees the Ministry of Justice; and Godwin Afekokhe Eshieshi leads the Ministry of Labour and Productivity. Hon. (Barr.) Kenneth Okoruwa Ihensekhien is the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, while Hon. Ebea Festus Odianosen heads the Ministry of Public Security and Safety.
Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to good governance, economic transformation, institutional efficiency, and inclusive development.
He added that the restructuring is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen service delivery and align state operations with national priorities.
