Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, has announced that the company will undertake a comprehensive revamp and development of its existing downstream infrastructure across Nigeria.
Gatekeepers News reports that speaking at the opening of 2025 OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week held in Lagos on Monday, Ojulari said the initiative is part of NNPC’s strategy to promote collaboration and boost efficiency in the oil and gas sector.
The OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week is regarded as the continent’s leading platform for key players in the downstream and midstream energy space, bringing together operators, regulators, and policymakers.
Addressing participants under the theme, “Energy Sustainability: Beyond Boundaries & Competition,” Ojulari noted that efficiency in the sector can no longer rely solely on competition. He stressed the need for greater collaboration, sustainability, and resilience among stakeholders.
He said, “At NNPC, we are committed to deploying additional infrastructure across the oil and gas value chain while revamping our existing downstream assets nationwide.”
“These facilities will remain open to partners for storage and product transportation, fostering strategic alliances and cooperation across the sector.”
Ojulari added that recent policy reforms particularly Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) alongside fiscal incentives and transparent regulations, have driven renewed growth and investment in Nigeria’s downstream segment.
He further highlighted emerging opportunities in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), compressed natural gas (CNG), and mini-liquefied natural gas (LNG) as areas requiring new expertise and capital investment.
The NNPC chief called on industry participants to embrace innovation and partnerships that promote decarbonisation, economic growth, and long-term energy sustainability.
