Egbetokun Appoints Nkechi Eze As First Director Of Police Medical Directorate

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has appointed Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) Nkechi Eze as the pioneer director of the newly established Directorate of Force Medical Services.

Gatekeepers News reports that the appointment was announced on Thursday by Force Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin.

According to the PRO, the new role followed the elevation of the Nigeria Police Force’s medical section into a full-fledged directorate.

Hundeyin noted that the initiative is aimed at improving access to quality healthcare for police officers and personnel nationwide.

He added that Egbetokun congratulated Eze on her appointment and encouraged her to leverage her vast experience to develop a world-class medical system within the force.

Eze is a distinguished clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator who brings over 27 years of exemplary service to her new role.

Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and originally from Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, AIG Eze holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Benin.

According to Hundeyin, Eze has served in several capacities across Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Lagos, where she made notable contributions to police medical services and officers’ welfare.

Egbetokun described the creation of the medical directorate as a major step toward strengthening the health and overall productivity of police officers, emphasising that an efficient healthcare system is crucial to the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.
