The House of Representatives has confirmed President Bola Ahner Tinubu’s nominees for the positions of service chiefs.
Gatekeepers News reports that the confirmation took place on Thursday following the presentation and adoption of the screening report by Babajimi Benson, chairman of the House Committee on Defence.
Those confirmed include Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff, Wahidi Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Idi Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff, and Kennedy Aneke as Chief of Air Staff.
While presenting the report, Benson said, “I am so proud that President Bola Tinubu nominated them. It was our unanimous resolve to recommend that the service chiefs be confirmed.”
Recall that President Tinubu appointed the new security chiefs on October 24, replacing their predecessors amid growing public calls for improved security performance, as Nigeria continues to face challenges of terrorism, banditry, and violent crime across various regions.
The Senate had also screened and confirmed the same nominees on Wednesday.
During his screening at the House of Representatives, Oluyede pledged to bring meaningful transformation to the armed forces.
