President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday decorated the recently appointed service chiefs with their new ranks during a symbolic ceremony held at the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja.
Gatekeepers News reports that those honoured with new ranks include Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff; Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff; Idi Abass, Chief of Naval Staff; Kevin Aneke, Chief of Air Staff; and Emmanuel Undiendeye, Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The president carried out the decoration exercise alongside the spouses of the newly promoted officers, with several top government officials and security leaders in attendance.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas led other prominent dignitaries at the event.
Also present were Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin; Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume; Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila; and Head of Service Didi Walson-Jack.
Other attendees included National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Defence Abubakar Badaru; and Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris.
The ceremony also had in attendance Kwara State Governor and NGF Chairman AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, as well as heads of the Department of State Services, National Intelligence Agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
The event followed the confirmation of the service chiefs by the National Assembly after President Tinubu’s request for expedited approval to enable them to assume office without delay.
