The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has achieved a historic milestone, generating ₦304 billion in revenue in October — the highest monthly collection ever recorded by any customs command in the country.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, disclosed this in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Tunde Ayagbalo.
Oshoba said the latest figure surpassed the ₦264 billion recorded in October 2024, adding that the command has so far generated ₦2.4 trillion between January and October 2025.
“The command has already surpassed the total revenue collected in the entire year of 2024, two months before the end of 2025,” he said.
The Area Controller commended officers and port stakeholders for their role in achieving the feat, describing it as the beginning of “greater revenue-generation exploits” under his leadership.
“The latest revenue feat is an initial proof of the command’s readiness to process a higher volume of trade, which will translate to greater collection for the government,” Oshoba said.
He added that officers had been sensitised ahead of the introduction of a Drive-Through Scanning regime capable of processing an average of 150 containers per hour directly from the quayside — a system he described as revolutionary for trade facilitation in West Africa.
Oshoba said the command had also conducted training for newly promoted officers to enhance their efficiency in line with directives from the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi.
“I commend my officers and our compliant stakeholders for this revenue milestone, but it is not our final destination,” he said.
“We are deploying all trade facilitation tools as directed by the CGC, including the One-Stop-Shop (OSS) platform, which harmonises all customs procedures to save time and promote efficiency.
“We are also preventing revenue leakages and maintaining a zero-compromise stance in applying Demand Notices (DN) to recover any shortfalls in revenue.”
