The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu on Thursday assured that the Army under his leadership will ensure that the right Commanders and Staff officers will be appointed and posted to the right places to build the morale of soldiers fighting Insecurity in different parts of the country.
Gatekeepers News reports that Gen Shaibu stated that his administration is committed to bringing about a new dawn for officers and soldiers, with a focus on upholding justice and fairness.
Gen. Shaibu made the disclosure during his maiden operational visit Headquarters Joint Task Force (JTF) North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital.
According to Gen. Shaibu, the need to boost the morale of officers and men of the Nigerian Army is crucial to achieving the desired outcome .
” We will ensure that the right people are placed in the right places; we will appoint the right type commanders and staff officers in various ways to ensure that we do what is best for the soldiers by holding fairness, justice within the system
” We will ensure that every person gets what is due to him within the system. Every person will get their dues. Knowing fully well that the morale concept of fighting power is key to achieving the desired expectations.” COAS said.
COAS maintained that his administration will provide special welfare packages not just to soldiers serving on the frontlines, but also to their families back home.
” For motivating the troops we will try to uphold the soldier-first concept of my predecessor and I’ll do everything to improve on that concept. As soldiers get what is due to them on time and going forward we will see how we can extend that to their family at home while they serve their father land.” Gen Shaibu said.
COAS also seized the opportunity of the visit to commend troops fighting the 16 year old Insurgency and encourage them to keep the flag flying.
