Lagos Sets Traffic Diversion Ahead Of 10th Women Run

Lagos State Government has announced plans to divert traffic on several major routes on the Island this Saturday, November 8, to accommodate the 10th edition of the Women Run.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued on Thursday, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Commissioner for Transportation, said the 10-kilometre race is being organised by the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) in collaboration with private partners.

According to Osiyemi, the event will kick off at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) and end at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.

The routes that will be affected include TBS, Water Board, Old NITEL, Outer Marina, Officers Mess, Bonny Camp Bridge, State House, Ahmadu Bello Way, Akin Adesola Street, Falomo Bridge, Falomo Roundabout, Awolowo Road, Onikan Roundabout, and the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

He noted that officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps (LSNC) will be stationed along these areas to direct traffic and ensure participants’ safety.

Motorists moving from Ozumba Mbadiwe toward the Third Mainland Bridge are advised to pass through Bonny Camp to Onikan Underpass, link Marina Exit to Force Road, and connect to Outer Marina before joining the bridge.

Drivers from Apongbon heading to Ikoyi should take Odunlami Street to Igbosere Road, then link Moloney Street to Ikoyi Road to continue their journey.

Osiyemi appealed for motorists’ patience and cooperation, assuring that the diversions are temporary and will be lifted gradually once the marathon progresses.
