Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to tackle Nigeria’s insecurity by eliminating terrorist groups within 90 days.
Gatekeepers News reports that the cleric spoke following concerns raised by former U.S. President Donald Trump after the church’s November Holy Ghost Service, themed “The Eve of Glory,” emphasising the urgent need to address the nation’s worsening security.
Adeboye stressed the sanctity of human life and recommended that the Federal Government set a strict deadline for security chiefs to decisively confront terrorist networks or face dismissal.
He said, “In my usual quiet way, I have related with all the presidents who were around when this trouble started. Whatever I discussed with them privately, I did my best behind the scenes. But you can only advise the Commander-in-Chief — you can’t command him.”
The cleric added that the government should act swiftly, diplomatically, and wisely, suggesting negotiations with the U.S. President to secure a 100-day grace period before any international action, during which Nigeria should eradicate terrorism.
He advised, “Then come home and tell our security chiefs to get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign.”
Adeboye recalled giving similar counsel to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, lamenting that although progress was initially made, it was not sustained.
He urged that directives to security chiefs should include eliminating terrorists and their sponsors, regardless of their influence.
Adeboye warned that while foreign powers like the U.S., China, Russia, and Britain may criticize actions, Nigeria must act decisively on its own.
He also called for the identification and exposure of those funding terrorism nationwide, insisting that the government use diplomacy to secure the necessary time to address the threat comprehensively.
The cleric said, “This is not the time for jokes, grammar, or arguments. It’s not about Christians or Muslims — innocent people are dying.”
