Olufemi Ajadi, a former governorship candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Ogun State, has joined Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Gatekeepers News reports that Ajadi announced his defection during a gathering on Monday, where he formally submitted his resignation letter addressed to the NNPP ward chairman, the party’s chairman in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, the South-West zonal chairman, and the national leadership.
Explaining his decision, Ajadi described the move as a strategic and patriotic step towards rebuilding Nigeria’s unity and hope.
He said his choice followed deep reflection on the nation’s political future and the need to align with a broader platform capable of achieving genuine transformation.
According to him, his departure from the NNPP was not motivated by personal conflict but by conviction. He said, “My decision to join the Peoples Democratic Party is both strategic and patriotic.”
“ I have great respect for the NNPP and what it stands for, but at this point in Nigeria’s history, I believe the PDP offers a wider and stronger platform for national reconciliation, youth empowerment, and true federalism.”
“There is no bad blood between me and my former party. I remain grateful for the opportunity to have served under its banner.”
Ajadi reaffirmed his dedication to public service and expressed readiness to collaborate with PDP leaders across the country in advancing transparency, peacebuilding, and inclusive governance.
