Operations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja were temporarily halted on Thursday following an aircraft incident involving a Gulfstream 400 private jet.
Gatekeepers News reports that the jet with registration number 5N-PZE, reportedly suffered a nosewheel failure while landing at about 2:00 p.m.
According to an airport source, the aircraft had departed Enugu Airport for Abuja with 10 passengers and four crew members on board.
“Yes, I can confirm there was an aircraft incident on the runway today,” the source said. “The aircraft experienced a nosewheel issue while landing, but thankfully, there were no casualties. It led to a brief closure of the airport.”
The source added that the aircraft was successfully evacuated from the runway, allowing normal flight operations to resume shortly after.
Efforts to obtain official comments from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) were unsuccessful, as its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, did not respond to inquiries as of press time.
Further details are expected as investigations into the incident continue.
