President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restated his government’s resolve to halt the ongoing violence in Plateau State, assuring residents that restoring peace remains a top national priority.
Gatekeepers News reports that speaking in Jos through Senate President Godswill Akpabio at a political rally on Saturday, he acknowledged the deep suffering caused by recurring attacks.
He said, “Let me assure the people of Plateau that your concerns are taken note of. Plateau is looking for peace; you don’t want your children to die young.”
“So many people have died on the Plateau, and we are not happy; the President is not happy. We cannot deny the fact that many of you have been killed and made homeless, but we must stop this. We must bring peace to the Plateau.”
Communities such as Bokkos and Bassa have witnessed repeated assaults this year, prompting protests in Jos where demonstrators labelled the killings as genocide and demanded stronger intervention from the federal government. Homes have been razed, villages displaced, and property destroyed.
