Local authorities in Danko/Wasagu LGA have released the names of the 25 schoolgirls abducted during the attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga.
Gatekeepers News reports that the kidnapping happened early Monday when armed men invaded the school, killing the vice-principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and injuring a security guard.
Bello Sani, Kebbi’s commissioner of police, confirmed that more tactical units, supported by military personnel and vigilante groups, have been deployed to sweep forests and suspected escape routes in a coordinated search-and-rescue mission.
Waidi Shaibu, the chief of army staff (COAS), has also ordered troops under Operation FANSAN YANMA to intensify day-and-night operations until every abducted student is found.
The students confirmed to have been taken include Fatima Sani Zimri, Hafsat Ibrahim, Nana Firdausi Jibril, and Masauda Yakubu Romo. Others are Hauwa Saleh and Hauwa’u Umar Imam from Senior Secondary School 2B.
From Senior Secondary School 3A and 3B, the names listed are Salima Garba Umar, Salima Sani Zimri, Amina G. Umar, Rashida Muhammad Dingu, Saliha Umar, Aisha Usman, Jamila Iliyasu, Maryam Illiyasu, Najaatu Abdullahi, and Zainab Kolo.
Those identified from the Junior Secondary School category are Khadija Nazifi, Hauwa’u Iliyasu, Hauwa’u Lawali, and Ummu Kulsum Abdulkarim.
