Fire Guts COP30 Pavilion In Brazil

Fire on Thursday, broke out at COP30 pavilion in Belém, Brazil.

Gatekeepers News reports that authorities have yet to determine the cause of the blaze. No casualties have been reported and firefighters have brought the fire under control.

According to witnesses; the incident was caused by a fault in the air-conditioning circuit. Brazil’s tourism minister confirmed that the fire is now under control.

The incident took place less than a day before the scheduled conclusion of the climate talks, causing an abrupt pause in negotiations.

In a message to participants, the UN stated that the host country’s fire chief had ordered a full evacuation of the COP30 venue to carry out safety inspections.

It said, “The premises are now under the authority of the host country and are no longer considered a Blue Zone.”
