Lagos State Police Command has denied reports circulating in parts of the media that the Commissioner of Police (CP) Olohundare Moshood ignored a court order relating to Nestoil premises.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement by the command’s Public Relation Officer (PRO), SP Abimbola Adebisi on Sunday, the Command described the allegations as false, misleading, and intended to create a wrong impression about the police and its role in the matter.
According to the Police Command, the report suggesting that the Commissioner defied a court directive was a misrepresentation meant to mislead the public.
The Command stressed that the Commissioner respects the law at all times and would never act in any manner that undermines court decisions. It added that court orders must be fully obeyed, and this principle was followed strictly in the Nestoil case.
The Command explained that the court order concerning the Nestoil property was received at about 5:50 p.m. on November 20, 2025. The document was immediately sent to the Legal Department for verification.
It added that confirmation from the issuing court was received the following day, November 21, after which all police officers stationed at the site were withdrawn without delay to comply with the directive.
The Commissioner expressed surprise at media reports claiming he ignored the order, describing the narrative as entirely false. He also clarified that he did not visit the Nestoil premises on November 20 or November 21.
The Command noted that the role of the police in such matters is limited to providing security for court officials enforcing legal directives and ensuring peace during the process. It emphasised that the police did not obstruct the enforcement of the order at any time.
The police further noted that they have no authority to seal any premises, including Nestoil’s. Their duty is only to safeguard sheriffs or other court-appointed officials carrying out lawful instructions.
The Command urged all parties involved in the dispute to focus on the court process and avoid dragging the police into unnecessary controversy.
The Commissioner also appealed to the public to disregard the claims circulated by Nestoil, describing them as false, misleading, and a distortion of events. He reaffirmed that the police operate strictly within the law and will never disobey court instructions.
The Lagos State Police Command assured residents that it remains committed to the rule of law and will continue to respect all judicial orders while ensuring that police actions follow due process.
