Prominent Islamic Scholar – Dahiru Bauchi Is Dead

Dahiru Usman Bauchi, a leading figure of the Tiljaniyyah Sufi order in Nigeria and one of the nation’s most respected Islamic scholars, has died.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Islamic scholar passed away on Thursday at a private hospital in Bauchi after a short illness. Details of his funeral arrangements will be announced soon.

Born around 1927 in Gombe, Dahiru Bauchi dedicated more than seventy years to teaching Qur’anic interpretation (tafsir) and guiding millions of followers across West Africa.

He was widely acknowledged as the Khalifah of the Tijjaniyyah Ibrahimiyyah in Nigeria and also held the position of deputy chairman of the Fatwa committee of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).
