Tinubu Launches 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem And Meets Security Chiefs

President Bola Tinubu has unveiled the emblem and launched the appeal fund for the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day. The ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja, and was followed by a closed-door meeting with top military and security leaders.

Gatekeepers Newreports that in his remarks, Tinubu commended the armed forces for their “exceptional courage, discipline, and resilience” in tackling persistent security threats across the country.

“Their courage is the foundation of our freedom and unity. Today we also pay tribute to veterans and our serving troops who continue to confront terrorism, insurgency, banditry and other security challenges,” he said.

“We are resilient often in the face of grave danger, remains the source of national pride, as must honour the fallen, and all those who answer the call of duty.”

The president reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening military welfare and advancing new programmes aimed at reclaiming ungoverned spaces nationwide.

Those present at the ceremony included Chief of Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff Wahidi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff Sunday Aneke; Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun; Director-General of the Department of State Services Adeola Ajayi; and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Mohammed Mohammed.

After the launch, Tinubu met privately with the service chiefs, though details of the discussions were not disclosed.
