Two Chinese nationals working on a road project in Kwara State were kidnapped after masked gunmen stormed the construction site and opened fire.
Gatekeepers News reports that the victims were employed on the BUA Bode Saadu–Kaiama–Kosubosu road project. The attack happened early Monday in the Ejidongari district of Moro Local Government Area.
Witnesses told reporters the gunmen struck between about 11 pm and 4 am, firing sporadic shots for two to three hours before seizing the Chinese workers.
No other casualties were reported at the scene besides the two abducted men. Security sources say the site is located less than two kilometres from the villages of Bielesin/Fallah and near Olokiti.
The state police have confirmed the abduction but say the kidnappers have not made contact with authorities or the victims’ families as of now.
The incident comes amid a rising wave of kidnappings and bandit attacks across Kwara, adding to local fears about worsening insecurity.
