President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed security agencies to intensify operations and secure the release of the 115 students still held after the attack on St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara LGA of Niger State.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued on Monday, Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, said Tinubu praised the security forces for successfully bringing back 100 of the abducted children, along with all 12 teachers.
The president noted that the federal government remains prepared to work closely with states to improve school safety nationwide.
He expressed relief over the return of the rescued students and commended Governor Umaru Bago and the security agencies for their response since the November 21 attack.
Tinubu reaffirmed that every remaining victim must be accounted for, insisting that all abducted Nigerians must be rescued without exception.
He added that federal and state authorities must now focus on preventing further attacks on schools and ensuring that children are no longer exposed to violent disruptions that endanger their education and traumatise families.
Recall that 100 out of the 315 kidnapped people including 12 teachers and 303 pupils regained their freedom on Sunday, roughly two weeks after armed men stormed the school at about 2 a.m.
About 50 pupils managed to escape within the first day of the abduction.
