A faction of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by Wike has removed the national working committee and replaced it with a caretaker team during a meeting of the national executive committee held on Sunday at the home of Nyesom Wike, Minister of Federal Capital Territory.

Gatekeepers News reports that the new committee will run the party for 60 days before a national convention is held. Abdulrahman Mohammed is the chairman, while Samuel Anyanwu serves as secretary.

Other members include Kamaldeen Ajibade, Umar Bature, Kyari Grema, Janguda Mohammed, Okechukwu Osuana, Nwogu Olaka, Sandy Onor, Adenike Ogunse, Bisi Kolawole, Deji Doherty, and Ibrahim Aboki.

The tenure of NWC elected in October 2021 will end on Tuesday. Last month, another faction backed by PDP Governors such as Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi, and Seyi Makinde of Oyo, held a separate convention where new NWC officials were elected, with Kabiru Turaki chosen as chairman.

At that convention, the party expelled Wike and several of his allies, including Ayodele Fayose, Anyanwu, Bature, Ajibade, Mao Ohuabunwa, Austin Nwachukwu, Amah Nnanna Abraham, Dan Orbih, and Turnah George.

Wike’s camp rejected the expulsions and announced a parallel NWC, board of trustees, and national executive committee. In response, the group also expelled key members of the Makinde faction.
