PDP Confirms Passing Of Bayelsa Deputy Gov

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed the death of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Oboraw-Harievwo Ewhrudjakpo, describing the news as a devastating loss to the party and the state.

Gatekeepers News reports that earlier on Thursday, widespread concern followed reports that the deputy governor had collapsed.

In a statement issued later that night, PDP, through its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said the confirmation of his death came as a deep shock to the party leadership and members nationwide.

The statement noted that the Bayelsa government is yet to release its own announcement but emphasised that Ewhrudjakpo was a loyal, principled, and steadfast member of the party whose contributions were widely respected.

The party said, “This devastating news has left the National Working Committee and our members, especially those in Bayelsa State, in profound grief. Senator Ewhrudjakpo was an honest and consistent politician who practiced politics with principle, not convenience.”

PDP extended condolences to the government and people of Bayelsa State and prayed for the repose of his soul.
