Elon Musk, chief executive officer (CEO) of Tesla and founder of several major technology companies, has set a new global wealth record after becoming the first individual to amass a net worth above $600 billion.

Gatekeepers News reports that figures from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index show that Musk’s fortune has climbed to about $638 billion, placing him far ahead of every other billionaire worldwide.

The index indicates that his wealth surged by roughly 42.7 percent over the past year, driven largely by rising valuations of his companies and renewed investor confidence in the tech sector.

Musk’s net worth now exceeds that of the second-richest individual, Google co-founder Larry Page, by more than $370 billion. Page is valued at about $265 billion, while Sergey Brin and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos follow with estimated fortunes of $246 billion and $238 billion respectively.

Oracle founder Larry Ellison, Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, and luxury goods magnate Bernard Arnault also rank among the world’s wealthiest, alongside Steve Ballmer, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and investor Warren Buffett.

The South African-born American entrepreneur first made history in December 2024 when he overtook Jeff Bezos to cross the $400 billion threshold, a milestone never previously reached by any individual.

Since then, gains in Tesla shares, the soaring valuation of SpaceX, and growing interest in his artificial intelligence ventures have further boosted his wealth.

SpaceX, which dominates the global commercial space launch market and plays a key role in satellite internet through Starlink, is now one of the most valuable private companies in the world.

Musk also owns X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, and is the founder of xAI, an artificial intelligence firm positioning itself as a major competitor in the rapidly expanding AI industry.
