Peter Nwaoboshi, a former senator who represented Delta North, has died at the age of 68.
Gatekeepers News reports that he reportedly passed away in Abuja on Friday, although details surrounding his death were not immediately made public.
Nwaoboshi served in the National Assembly where he played prominent roles, including as chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs.
He was known for his strong advocacy for the Anioma people and his active participation in legislative matters affecting the Niger Delta region.
Reacting to his death, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, expressed deep sorrow, describing the former lawmaker’s passing as a major loss to Delta State, the Anioma nation, and the country.
In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, the Governor praised Nwaoboshi as a committed public servant and a courageous voice for his constituents.
Oborevwori said, “Nwaoboshi lived a life of service to his people, his party, and the country, bequeathing a heritage of bravery, loyalty, and commitment to public duty.”
He extended condolences to the family of the late senator, the Anioma people, members of the All Progressives Congress, and others affected by the loss, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
