Federal Government has approved compulsory drug testing as a prerequisite for recruitment into public service, tightening entry conditions for prospective employees.
Gatekeepers News reports that the policy was communicated to permanent secretaries as well as heads of extra-ministerial departments and parastatals through an official statement released on Monday by Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SSG).
According to the statement signed by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at OSGF, the new requirement forms part of broader measures aimed at addressing the growing incidence of illicit drug abuse and its negative impact on productivity, public safety, national development, and security.
The government noted that enforcing stricter standards in public sector recruitment is intended to promote discipline, efficiency, and integrity within the civil service.
This is a developing story…
