Senate Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno, said at the weekend that claims by some Nigerians that the All Progressives Congress (APC)is pushing for a one-party state agenda following defections from opposition parties are baseless and unfounded.
Gatekeepers News reports that Senator Monguno said the influx of opposition members, particularly governors ,National Assembly Members and other top politicians is as a result of the transformational leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Senator Monguno made this known while speaking to reporters in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital .
Speaking amid growing concerns over recent defections from opposition parties to the APC, Monguno labelled the claims as “baseless and unfounded”, assuring Nigerians that the party remains committed to democratic principles.
“We’re in a democratic dispensation, we can’t stop people from joining our pary . They are trooping into our part because of the good works of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“My party , the APC is not trying to foist a one-party state, Nigerians on their own volution are joining the APC and its welcome development for us . So the rumour of a one party state is baseless and unfounded” Senator Monguno said .
He maintained that the APC will win the 2027 presidential election because of President Tinubu’s transformational performance and the growing number of Nigerians joining the APC to support the president.
“With President Tinubu’s leadership, we’re confident of a landslide victory in 2027 . The future is bright, and Nigerians are ready for the next level of leadership under APC.” Senator Monguno said.
