NAF C-130 Makes Safe Stop In Banjul During Ferry Flight To Portugal

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that its C-130 transport aircraft, en route to Portugal for scheduled depot maintenance, made a safe landing in Banjul, The Gambia, following an earlier transit through Accra, Ghana.

Gatekeepers Newreports that in a statement on Tuesday, the NAF said the flight plan also includes a stop in Casablanca, Morocco, before the aircraft reaches its final destination in Portugal. The Service emphasized that the ferry flight is being conducted in strict accordance with established aviation safety procedures.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, stated:

“The Nigerian Air Force confirms that its C-130 aircraft, which earlier made a precautionary landing during a ferry flight, has successfully continued its journey and landed safely in Banjul, The Gambia. All personnel are safe and the aircraft remains serviceable.”

The Air Force reassured the public that ferry flights are carefully routed through designated airfields, with movements scheduled to ensure both operational efficiency and safety. The Service also expressed gratitude to the authorities in Ghana, The Gambia, and other countries overflown for their cooperation and support.

“Ferry flights for aircraft programmed for maintenance are required to operate through designated airfields, with movements appropriately spaced in accordance with established aviation safety procedures. All personnel are safe, and the aircraft remains serviceable,” the NAF said.

“We appreciate the host authorities in Ghana, The Gambia, and other countries overflown for the support extended to the crew, and we also acknowledge the concern and goodwill expressed by Nigerians.
