The Presidency has clarified that Femi Gbajabiamila remains the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, dismissing online claims that he has been replaced.

Gatekeepers News reports that the clarification followed reports circulating on social media alleging that the President had appointed the Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, as the new Chief of Staff.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the report was a complete fabrication and did not come from any official source. He urged Nigerians to ignore it.

According to the statement, there has been no change in the structure or leadership of the Office of the Chief of Staff. Gbajabiamila continues to serve in his role, while Muri-Okunola remains the Principal Private Secretary to the President.

The Presidency added that both officials are carrying out their assigned duties and that no reshuffle or replacement has taken place.

Online reports from State House sources also confirmed that Gbajabiamila has remained active in his role, coordinating presidential schedules and overseeing key administrative functions since his appointment in 2023.

The Presidency condemned what it called the deliberate spread of false information by individuals seeking to cause confusion within government, especially through social media.

It warned media organisations and the public against sharing unverified reports and advised that information about appointments and changes in government should always be confirmed from official and credible channels.

The Presidency reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and said it would continue to correct misinformation that could mislead the public or undermine confidence in government institutions.
