NDLEA Arrests 49-Year-Old Man In Ogun Over 347kg Cannabis Seizure

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State Command, has arrested a 49-year-old man, Fatokun Rahmon, for allegedly storing 347 kilograms of cannabis sativa in a warehouse located in the Rounda area of Abeokuta.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the arrest followed an intelligence-led operation carried out by NDLEA operatives in the area, which is reportedly known for the stockpiling of illicit substances.

The spokesperson of the command, Musa Harris, confirmed the development in a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

According to him, operatives acted on actionable intelligence and carried out a targeted operation on December 28, 2025, at about 10:00 p.m.

“Acting on actionable intelligence, operatives of the Command, on December 28, 2025, at about 10:00 pm, conducted a targeted operation at Rounda, Abeokuta, Ogun State, where a warehouse used for the storage of illicit substances was uncovered,” Musa said.

He explained that during the operation, a large quantity of cannabis sativa was discovered concealed inside a Honda Ridgeline pickup vehicle parked within the warehouse.

“During the operation, operatives discovered a haul of cannabis sativa concealed inside a Honda Ridgeline pickup vehicle,” he added.

Musa said the seizure underscored the command’s resolve to curb drug trafficking in the state.

“The timely interception demonstrates the Command’s unwavering commitment to suppressing illicit drug trafficking within Ogun State,” he said, adding that the agency would sustain the momentum in the fight against drug abuse and illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, the NDLEA Command said it recorded significant achievements in 2025 in its anti-drug operations.

The Ogun State NDLEA Commander, Tijjani Rabe, disclosed that the agency seized about 6,060.72 kilograms and 2,655.75 litres of illicit substances during the year.

He added that 760 suspects were arrested, 316 drug users received counselling and rehabilitation support, while 159 convictions were secured, with offenders sentenced to various prison terms.
