Adekunle Gold Becomes First Artist To Sell Out Wole Soyinka Centre

Adekunle Gold has made history as the first artist to sell out the newly-renovated National Theatre in Lagos, now renamed Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts.

Gatekeepers News reports that the milestone was achieved on December 26, when the singer filled all 3,560 seats of the venue.

On Thursday, Adekunle Gold was presented with two commemorative plaques, one recognising the efforts of his management and record label in organising the concert, and another honouring him as the first artist to headline and sell out the theatre.

The plaque for the record label reads: “Sometin Different Management, Events and Record Label. Record Label For Adekunle Gold Sold Out National Theatre Event In Lagos, Nigeria.”

The concert offered a blend of Afrobeats and classical music, with Adekunle performing alongside a full orchestra to deliver a memorable experience for fans.

The event, which had a black-tie dress code, also included special moments, such as Olamide taking the stage to introduce Adekunle, describing him as a refined and sophisticated Afrobeats artiste.

Olamide said, “Ladiesneh and gentlemenSneh, I’m your host for todaySneh. They call me Baddosneh. I’m here to introduce one of the tiniest, most refined and sophisticated Afrobeats artists, known for his elegant style and impeccable finesse — a true embodiment of grandeur and top-tier artistry.”
