Fubara: Top PDP Figures Have Thrown Support Behind Tinubu

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has said that some prominent former leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including known allies of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have resolved to support President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the political figures named by the governor include former PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara; former Rivers State Governor, Celestine Omehia; and former Minister of Transport, Abiye Sekibo.

Fubara made the disclosure on Thursday during the New Year banquet organised by the Rivers State Government at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Port Harcourt.

Acknowledging the presence of the political heavyweights at the event, the governor said their attendance and political stance had effectively dispelled claims and what he described as blackmail suggesting that he was aligning with individuals working against the interests of President Tinubu.

The governor also used the occasion to reaffirm his resolve in the face of political challenges, declaring that he remained “unshaken” and anchored by his faith in God.

“I am unshaken because I trust in God, and it is on that strength that the purpose of governance in Rivers State will be fully realised,” Fubara said.

He dismissed insinuations that he was “barking,” stating that he clearly understood the political terrain and had put mechanisms in place to navigate the process successfully and achieve the objectives of his administration.

Quoting Julius Caesar, Fubara said only those who lack understanding resort to “barking” when they are unable to interpret unfolding events.

The governor declared that 2026 would usher in what he described as “complete liberation” for Rivers State, assuring that all the goals set by his administration would be accomplished.

He expressed confidence that those who stood by him would ultimately be fulfilled and proud of their decisions, “walking with their shoulders high.”

Fubara said his administration had faced numerous challenges but had emerged stronger, noting that the battles he could not fight had ultimately strengthened his resolve.

“I have lost nothing; it is only a matter of time to recover all,” he said.

He further assured that his administration would never compel anyone to do what is wrong, adding that he harboured no fear.

According to him, he believes that when the time comes, “every necessary bridge will be crossed.”
