Federal government has withdrawn the criminal charge filed against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the National Assembly.

Gatekeepers News reports that court documents show that the notice of withdrawal was filed in a case between the federal government and the senator at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The notice, dated December 12, 2025, was submitted under relevant provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

The document stated, “The Office of the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation intends to discontinue proceeding in this matter.”

It was signed by M. B. Abubakar, director of public prosecutions of the federation, and Aderonke Imana, assistant chief state counsel, on behalf of Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.

Court records indicate that the Federal High Court, Abuja, received and endorsed the notice on December 15, 2025, before certifying it as a true copy three days later.

The withdrawal comes amid a broader legal de-escalation involving the parties. Earlier in the week, Senate President Godswill Akpabio disclosed that he had instructed his legal team to discontinue all defamation-related court cases he filed against individuals.

Akpabio had, in December 2025, instituted a N200 billion defamation suit against Akpoti-Uduaghan at Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, following allegations of s*xual harassment made against him. The latest development signals a halt in the criminal aspect of the legal dispute involving the senator.
