Katsina State communities have come under coordinated night attacks by heavily armed bandits, resulting in multiple abductions, local sources reported on Tuesday.
Gatekeepers News reports that eyewitnesses told Channels Television that the attacks occurred on Monday night, with bandits operating for several hours across affected areas, causing widespread fear and disruption.
Security sources said the assailants first targeted Unguwar Alhaji Barau, then moved to Gidan Dan Mai-gizo and Gidan Hazo communities, all located in Na’alma Ward, Malumfashi Local Government Area.
The exact number of casualties and abducted persons remains unclear, as security forces have yet to release an official statement.
Spokesperson of the Katsina Police Command, Abubakar Sadiq, told Channels Television he was not immediately aware of the attacks but promised to investigate.
“Please, let me check because I’m just hearing about the attack from you now. I will be back to you, please,” Sadiq said.
Malumfashi has become a frontline area in Katsina, with recurring bandit attacks despite recent peace agreements between local authorities and armed groups operating in the region.
The latest attacks follow the August 19, 2025, mosque attack, in which bandits stormed a mosque in Unguwar Mantau Community and opened fire on worshippers, killing at least 32 people.
