Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has recorded another major box office success as her latest film, Oversabi Aunty, grossed ₦711.5 million within just 18 days of its cinema release.
Gatekeepers News reports that the feat places the movie as the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time in West Africa, reinforcing its status as one of the industry’s biggest recent cinema successes.
The milestone was announced on Monday by the film’s official distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, in a post shared on its Instagram page. The company disclosed that the film’s cumulative earnings stood at ₦711.5m, making it the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood title in the region and the second highest-grossing film of the weekend.
FilmOne attributed the achievement largely to strong audience turnout across cinemas in West Africa.
“West Africa, you showed up and showed out in an Oversabi way. Thank you for the love. In just 18 days, Oversabi Aunty grossed ₦711.5M, making it the 4th Highest Nollywood Film of all time in West Africa. Thank you to everyone for the love and support so far. This win is for all of us,” the distributor wrote.
The latest record builds on the film’s earlier box office momentum. Within 11 days of its release, Oversabi Aunty had crossed the ₦380 million mark. At the time, FilmOne announced on its X handle that the film had earned ₦382,897,436 in December alone, describing its cinema run as an “Oversabi box office takeover.”
“Oversabi Aunty with an Oversabi box office takeover! World Best for a reason!!! Thank you, West Africa, for showing up big!” the distributor wrote, adding that the movie recorded Nollywood’s second-highest opening weekend of 2025.
With its new ranking, Oversabi Aunty has displaced Funke Akindele’s Battle on Buka Street (2022) and Omo Ghetto: The Saga (2020), which previously grossed over ₦660 million and ₦630 million respectively.
The film boasts a star-studded cast including Mike Ezuruonye, Efe Irele, Dike Osinachi (Kidbaby), Jemima Osunde, Adebowale Adedayo (Adedamee), Enioluwa Adeoluwa, and Toyin Abraham herself.
