Ned Nwoko, senator representing Delta North, has said that any drug or alcohol test results presented by Regina Daniels, his estranged wife, will be carefully examined in court.
Gatekeepers News reports that his reaction followed an Instagram post by Regina, where she shared videos of herself undergoing a medical test at a hospital and later collecting the results, saying the exercise was to clear her name and denying any use of hard drugs.
In a statement issued by his communication team, Nwoko said the circumstances surrounding the recent test remain unclear and insisted that short-term abstinence does not amount to sobriety.
He said earlier findings of drug and alcohol use were based on assessments conducted by two independent and reputable centres in Nigeria and South Africa, adding that the reports were professionally compiled and would be presented and defended in court.
According to him, at best, it reflects abstinence over a period of time. It does not invalidate earlier medical reports, nor does it negate what necessitated intervention in the first place.
The senator also dismissed attempts to downplay the seriousness of MDMA, also known as Molly, stressing that regardless of how casually it is referenced or repackaged in language, it is a drug. Renaming it does not alter its chemical composition, its risks, or its impact on judgement and stability.
He added that healing requires sustained effort and professional support, not social media engagement, and noted that the centres involved in earlier assessments would be subpoenaed to testify.
Nwoko said that before the dispute became public, he explored options for private rehabilitation and structured therapy, adding that a court judgement delivered last year in his favour on custody matters also ordered supervised therapy with proof of compliance.
He maintained that any test conducted anywhere in the world would still be subject to court scrutiny and could be verified by a court-appointed laboratory, saying, “It is time for reality supported by relevant, credible and admissible evidence.”
The dispute between the couple became public in October after a viral video showed the actress alleging domestic violence.
Regina denied the claim and accused Regina of struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, while Daniels later admitted to drug use but alleged it was encouraged as a form of control.
