Nigerian Air Force has carried out precision air strikes on terrorist hideouts in Abbagajiri, located in the Timbuktu Triangle of Borno State.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement on Saturday, Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations at NAF headquarters, said the operation, conducted on January 8, targeted terrorist structures and concealed logistics facilities in the area.

The spokesman explained that the strikes aimed to weaken the terrorists’ capabilities and prepare the ground for the movement of troops.

He said, “The identified terrorist structures were decisively engaged and destroyed, denying the terrorists freedom of action, while a follow-up engagement neutralised armed elements observed converging on the location,”

Ejodame added that ground troops who advanced into the area afterward confirmed the effectiveness of the air strikes.

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, said the air force is committed to controlling the skies to support joint operations with ground forces.

He said, We will continue to deny terrorists freedom of movement, sanctuary, and logistics wherever they seek to hide. Air operations will remain relentless and intelligence-driven.”

Aneke also emphasised that the operations are carefully planned using intelligence to maximise impact on terrorist targets while protecting civilians.

He added, “The Nigerian Air Force will sustain pressure until terrorist networks are completely dismantled.”

The recent air strikes follow earlier NAF operations in the north-east and north-west zones, where several terrorist camps were destroyed and fighters neutralised.

These missions were conducted between January 1 and 2 under joint task forces of Operation Hadin Kai and Operation Fasan Yamma Sector 2.
