Five persons were injured on Thursday after an improvised explosive device went off on the Takalafiya–Gadar Zaima road in Bukkuyum LGA of Zamfara State.

Gatekeepers News reports that reports from counterinsurgency and security platform, Zagazola Makama, indicated that the incident happened at about 11:30am when a motorcycle conveying five passengers struck an explosive believed to have been planted by armed bandits in the area.

The explosion destroyed the motorcycle and left all the occupants with serious injuries. Following the incident, security personnel immediately closed the road and advised residents to stay away while checks were conducted to rule out any further danger.

The injured persons were later taken to the General Hospital in Gummi for treatment.

Movement along the Takalafiya–Gadar Zaima route remains restricted as security agencies continue to monitor the area to ensure safety.

The incident comes weeks after a similar explosion in December 2025 injured travellers on the Gurusu–Gwashi road in the same local government area.

Days later, no fewer than nine people were reportedly killed when two suspected explosive devices detonated on the Magami–Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area, between the Maikogo and Mal’ayaya communities.
