Nigeria – UAE Sign MoU To Boost Ports Development And Maritime Logistics

Nigeria and the Abu Dhabi Ports Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing cooperation in ports development, maritime logistics, and digital solutions.

Gatekeepers News reports that the agreement was finalised during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, highlighting a growing partnership between the two countries.

According to Osagie Edward, head of public relations at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), the signing marks a significant step in strengthening economic and trade ties between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Nigerian delegation was led by Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, while the Abu Dhabi Ports Group was represented by its chairman, Mohamed Hassan. Dayo Mobereola, Director-General of NIMASA, was also present at the ceremony.

Edward stated that the delegation briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the strategic importance of the MoU. He noted that the agreement, which had been in discussion for over 20 years, forms part of broader trade and investment efforts between Nigeria and the UAE.

The MoU demonstrates a renewed commitment by both countries to strengthen collaboration in the maritime and blue economy sectors, including digital and logistics solutions to enhance port efficiency and regional trade.
