Adekunle Ojora, the Otunba of Lagos and Lisa of Ife, has died at the age of 93, his family has confirmed.

Gatekeepers News reports his demise was announced on Wednesday in a statement signed by his daughter, Mrs. Toyin Ojora-Saraki, wife of former Senate President Bukola Saraki, saying he passed away “in full submission to the will of Almighty Allah (SWT).”

Ojora’s life was marked by significant achievements in business, journalism, public service, and traditional leadership. Born in 1932 into the Ojora and Adele royal families of Lagos, he began his career in journalism in the early 1950s with the British Broadcasting Corporation before joining the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation.

He later moved into the corporate world, becoming an executive at United African Company in the 1960s and serving as Chairman of the Board at AGIP Nigeria Limited from 1971 until it was acquired in 2002. Over the years he invested in and led multiple enterprises, helping shape sectors such as oil, shipping, finance, and real estate in Nigeria.

Chief Ojora also held many respected traditional titles and was a key figure in Lagos cultural and royal circles. His leadership extended beyond business to social mentorship and influence across generations.

He is survived by his wife, Erelu Ojuolape Ojora, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The family said he will be buried in Lagos according to Islamic rites and asked the public to pray for him, hoping Allah grants him reprieve in the grave and a place in Aljannah Firdaus.
