Senate President Godswill Akpabio has announced the تشکیل of a special committee to harmonise and collate senators’ views on the proposed amendments to the Electoral Act.
Gatekeepers News reports that Akpabio made the announcement on Thursday after a closed-door session of the Senate, where lawmakers considered the report on the bill.
“The Senate has set up a small committee to further make contributions, galvanise, distil all the opinions of distinguished senators and present them to us for final deliberation on Tuesday,” he said.
He explained that the committee is chaired by Senator Niyi Adegbomire, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Legal Matters, citing “technical reasons” for the choice.
Adegbomire, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, represents Ondo Central in the Senate.

Other members of the committee include:

- Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto South)
- Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North)
- Mohammed Goje (Gombe Central)

Akpabio said the committee has three days to complete its assignment and submit its report ahead of the next plenary session scheduled for Tuesday.
