Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has alerted Nigerians to the circulation of fake recruitment exercises falsely claiming to offer jobs within the agency.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement on Monday, George Ene-Ita, director of public affairs at NMDPRA, stressed that the authority is not conducting any form of recruitment at present and has no ongoing employment opportunities at any level.
According to the agency, unscrupulous individuals have been exploiting young and vulnerable Nigerians by sending bogus employment letters, making empty promises, and advertising non-existent job vacancies to extort money.
“The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) is compelled to publish this disclaimer alerting the public to the activities of some unscrupulous persons who are exploiting young, economically vulnerable and unsuspecting Nigerians perhaps into parting with huge sums of money for purported employment opportunities into the Authority,” the statement read.
The agency emphasised, “We wish to use this opportunity to state categorically that the NMDPRA is NOT conducting any recruitment exercise currently. Neither is the Agency undertaking any kind of employment into its services at any level. For the avoidance of doubt, any future recruitment exercise would be undertaken in accordance with extant rules guiding such exercises in the Nigerian Public Service.”
NMDPRA urged the public to ignore any unsolicited recruitment claims and only rely on the authority’s official website and verified social media accounts for accurate information about jobs and corporate activities.
The agency warned that anyone found attempting to defraud Nigerians using the NMDPRA name would face legal prosecution under Nigerian law, highlighting the importance of verifying all employment opportunities through official channels.
