Dr. Jackson Gaius-Obaseki, CON, a respected veteran of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry and former presidential envoy on energy security to West and Central Africa, has arrived in Abuja ahead of his recognition at Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES).
Gatekeepers News reports that Gaius-Obaseki, who previously served as Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), landed in Federal Capital Territory alongside his wife, Mrs. R. Gaius-Obaseki, and was received at Abuja airport by officials and well-wishers.
The Lifetime Achievement in Oil & Gas Award is one of the summit’s top honours and is being presented during the Federal Government-backed energy event, supported by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
In its letter conveying the award, NIES described the honour as a recognition of Gaius-Obaseki’s long-standing leadership and remarkable contributions to Nigeria and Africa’s oil and gas sector, noting that his institution-building efforts, policy influence, and commitment to human capital development have helped shape the industry over the years.
The former NNPC boss has also held other key leadership roles in the sector, including serving as Chairman of Nigeria LNG (NLNG) and Chairman of Brass LNG. Many industry stakeholders regard him as one of the most knowledgeable voices in the Nigerian petroleum space, often referring to him as an “oracle” of the industry.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and is expected to attract top government officials, industry leaders, and other dignitaries.
