Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has ended his four‑year stint with South African club Chippa United, bringing to a close a key chapter of his club career as he prepares for the next stage.

Gatekeepers News reports that Chippa United confirmed on Thursday that the 29‑year‑old custodian formally submitted a request to leave the club, despite having signed a three‑year contract extension in 2024. After review, the Betway Premiership side agreed to grant his release and thanked him for his service.

In a statement shared on the club’s official social media pages, Chippa United expressed gratitude for Nwabali’s dedication and professionalism during his time at the Port Elizabeth‑based outfit. “His contribution to the club will always be appreciated,” the statement read.

Nwabali has taken to his own social media platforms to bid farewell to teammates, coaches, supporters and club officials in a heartfelt message. In his note, he described his time with Chippa United as more than a professional engagement, saying the relationships and memories forged will remain with him forever.

Despite widespread speculation about where Nwabali will play next, no official move has been confirmed. Reports have linked him with numerous potential suitors, including top clubs in the South African Premier Soccer League, as well as teams in Europe and the Saudi Pro League who are reportedly interested in securing his services.

Nwabali first joined Chippa United in 2022 from Katsina United in the Nigeria Premier Football League and quickly became one of the club’s standout performers. He made more than 70 appearances for the Chilli Boys and was named captain in 2024, highlighting his importance both on and off the pitch.

Internationally, his performances earned him the number one goalkeeper spot for the Super Eagles, particularly after strong showings at recent Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. Analysts believe his availability could attract significant interest as clubs look to bolster their goalkeeping options during the ongoing transfer window.

As of now, Nwabali has not publicly confirmed his next club, leaving fans and observers to await developments in what could be one of the most intriguing free‑agent moves in African football this year.
