Obiora Egwuatu, a judge of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has recused himself from handling two corruption-related cases filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Abubakar Malami, the immediate past Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

Gatekeepers News reports that the development was announced during proceedings on Thursday, when the judge informed the court that his decision was based on personal considerations and a commitment to ensuring fairness in the judicial process.

He explained that stepping aside was necessary to protect the integrity of the trial and avoid any situation that could raise questions about impartiality.
