Tottenham Hotspur have sacked head coach Thomas Frank after less than eight months in charge, following a 2–1 home defeat to Newcastle on Tuesday that left the club just five points above the Premier League relegation zone.
Gatekeepers News reports that the North London side sit 16th in the table and are without a win in their last eight league matches — their worst run since October 2008. Spurs have won just two of their last 17 Premier League games, collecting only 12 points during that period.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the club confirmed Frank’s departure.
“The club has taken the decision to make a change in the men’s head coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today,” Tottenham said.
“Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together.
“However, results and performances have led the board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.”
Frank, formerly in charge of Brentford, took over in June after Ange Postecoglou was dismissed. He signed a contract until 2028 but struggled to improve Spurs’ domestic form, despite a more positive European campaign.
The Danish coach guided Tottenham to automatic qualification for the Champions League last 16 by finishing fourth in their group. However, that was overshadowed by a Premier League record this season of seven wins, eight draws and 11 defeats.
“Throughout his time at the club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the club forward,” the club added.
“We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”
Tottenham are also out of both domestic cup competitions. They were knocked out of the League Cup by Newcastle in the fourth round in October and lost to Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round last month.
