Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the upload of results from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area council elections on its Result Viewing Portal (IReV), following the conclusion of voting across the six councils on Saturday.

Gatekeepers News reports that checks on the portal showed that results from several polling units had begun to appear, covering both chairmanship and councillorship contests. As of Saturday evening, a significant number of results from the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) had already been uploaded, while collation was still ongoing in other councils, including Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali, and Abaji.

INEC said the upload process is part of its commitment to transparency and accountability, allowing the public, political parties, and election observers to track results directly from polling units. The commission explained that scanned copies of the official result sheets are transmitted after voting, counting, and signing by party agents at the polling units.

The electoral body also confirmed that results from ongoing by-elections in Kano and Rivers states are being uploaded alongside those of the FCT polls. Security personnel were deployed across collation centres to ensure a smooth process and prevent any form of disruption.

The FCT area council elections are being closely watched as a key test of INEC’s readiness ahead of the 2027 general election, especially following the recent signing of the Electoral Act 2026, which reinforces the electronic transmission of election results.
