Fire Guts Old International Terminal At Lagos Airport

A massive fire outbreak has engulfed the old international terminal of the Lagos airport, sparking an emergency response from multiple agencies.

Gatekeepers Newreports that a source close to the terminal told The Guardian on Monday that the fire began around 3:30 p.m., though the cause of the inferno had yet to be determined as of the time of filing this report.

The affected terminal is currently undergoing reconstruction by the Federal Government.

It was gathered that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and other sister agencies were on ground battling the raging flames.

Confirming the incident, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Henry Agbebire, said firefighters from the agency were actively responding to contain the blaze.

Agbebire assured that there were no casualties.

“No loss of life has been recorded. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available,” he said.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
