Senator Stella Oduah Rejoins APGA – Receives Grand Homecoming

On Friday, 27th February 2026, the seven Local Government Areas of Anambra North Senatorial District came alive as Senator Stella Oduah officially rejoined the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and received a formal, widely attended homecoming ceremony.

Popularly known by her traditional title, Omu Adaeze Chukwu Na Eme Ogo, the Senator was welcomed by APGA Ward Chairmen and their executives from across the district in what observers described as an electrified atmosphere marked by solidarity and celebration.

Beyond its ceremonial significance, the gathering underscored a renewed political alignment within the state’s progressive fold.

Tracing her political journey, Senator Oduah recalled that after working for the re-election of former Governor Willie Obiano in 2017, she joined APGA. In 2019, she defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on whose platform she was elected Senator representing Anambra North. Since the 2022 general elections, she has maintained close working ties with and support for APGA, culminating in her official return to the party.

Addressing supporters, Senator Oduah acknowledged Governor Chukwuma Soludo as her mentor, praising his leadership as visionary and transformative. She commended his administration’s reforms in governance and infrastructure, stating that it is both an honour and a responsibility to work with the Governor in advancing the welfare of the people of Anambra.

According to her, the Governor’s philosophy represents a deliberate shift toward people-focused leadership, structured to deliver measurable impact at every level of society.

A key highlight of her remarks centered on the restructuring of local governance in the state. She referenced the introduction of the mayoral system in local governments to strengthen executive responsibility and grassroots accountability. She also pointed to the strengthened legislative framework at the local level, with elected councillors and supervising councillors overseeing executive portfolios to ensure improved service delivery.
Furthermore, she praised the extension of administrative structures into individual communities, describing it as a bottom-up governance model designed to bring decision-making closer to the people and ensure that development priorities reflect community needs.

The Senator also lauded the administration’s strides in road construction, public utilities, and urban renewal initiatives across the state. Beyond infrastructure, she highlighted sustained investments in education, healthcare, and youth empowerment, emphasizing that human capital remains Anambra’s greatest asset.

Describing herself as a progressive, Oduah expressed confidence that her return to APGA would foster stronger synergy between federal representation and state leadership, ultimately yielding tangible economic and social benefits for the people of Anambra North.

The event concluded on a note of optimism, with stakeholders describing the homecoming as a significant step toward deeper collaboration and accelerated development within the district.
