National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed that Nigeria’s collection from Company Income Tax (CIT) reached ₦2.96 trillion in the third quarter (Q3) of 2025, marking a notable increase in corporate tax receipts.

Gatekeepers News reports that the latest data from the statistical agency shows that the amount represents a 67.19 percent rise compared with the same quarter in 2024, and about a 6.55 percent increase on the quarter‑to‑quarter figure of ₦2.78 trillion recorded in Q2 2025.

A breakdown of the figures indicates that foreign companies contributed the larger share of CIT, accounting for about 59 percent of total collections, while domestic companies provided the remaining portion of the revenue.

Sector performance details show that the manufacturing industry led contributions, underlining its role as a major driver of corporate tax inflows. The mining and quarrying sector followed closely behind, with financial and insurance activities also making significant contributions to the tax haul.

The report further highlights varied growth trends across industries during the quarter. Arts, entertainment, and recreation recorded one of the strongest quarter‑on‑quarter growth rates, while sectors such as household employer activities, financial services, and construction experienced declines in their contributions.

The rise in CIT revenue reflects stronger corporate profitability, improved compliance, and broader economic activity across key sectors, positioning tax receipts as a growing source of non‑oil revenue for government budgets.
